Position Description

Lion’s Gate Security Solutions and Training is a leader in the cybersecurity industry. 1.0 Position Overview
We are looking for a capable Data Center Administrator, who enjoys technical work and possesses both deep and wide expertise in the data center environment. Lion’s Gate is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Data Center Administrator. This position is responsible for the administration and monitoring of daily operations of the data center, and assisting with the configuration and monitoring of the network infrastructure. The Data Center Administrator assists with the research and planning of the company’s data center environment including, but not limited to: maintenance agreements and life cycle; the installation, configuration, and management of servers; security; server backups and disaster recovery; server hardware life cycle; and troubleshooting and resolving problems related to the data center environment and services.

 

2.0 Essential Functions

  • Maintain overall operations and infrastructure of remote data centers by deploying and maintaining hardware and software components, monitoring system performance, configuration, and working with outside vendors if necessary to assist support activities.

  • Coordinate and execute software and hardware installation, upgrade, configuration, migration, update and patch production for Linux systems.

  • Maintain data center and network integrity and procedural documentation.

  • Configure and document backup routines, restoration of host operating systems and applications, and test recovery procedures for infrastructure components.

  • Analyze, isolate, and troubleshoot issues. Quickly resolve escalated incidents and provide technical assistance for inquiries regarding problems, errors, or questions about software, hardware, systems, and infrastructure.

  • Evaluate and recommend new approaches to system administration, including procedural changes, future software needs and automation tools to enhance productivity.

  • Predict the risk/impact of any major changes by conducting and analyzing reporting on performance and capacity planning.

3.0 Competencies

  • Strong ability to set up, troubleshoot, and manage virtualization environments (VMware ESX) and/or Linux Kernel-based hypervisors (KVM, Virtuozzo) is required. Virtual router and networking skills (Vyatta, VyOS, etc) is a plus.

  • Provide support in performance monitoring, reporting, Root Cause Analysis, and resolution for VMware environments

  • Understanding of hardware/rack setup and maintenance, application and storage servers setup and configuration, and database administration.

  • Linux (RHCA, RCHE or RHCSA) or other SA certifications is a strong plus.

  • Demonstrated good judgment and proactive approach in solving problems as well as identifying problems in advance, and proposing solutions.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create technical documentation and system diagrams.

  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills.

  • Ability to prioritize workload and tasks to effectively meet deadlines, and ability to lead, and own projects.

  • 3+ years of experience as Datacenter System Administrator and handling DC Operations with critical business applications.

  • 5+ years of Linux OS experience. Must have fundamental Linux OS skills and experience, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, patch maintenance, security and recovery.

  • Bachelor’s degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science or equivalent experience.

  • Ability to work with and configure networking and routing protocols and operations such as TCP/IP, DHCP, firewalls, troubleshooting, patch maintenance, and recovery.

  • Demonstrated good judgment and proactive approach in solving problems as well as identifying problems in advance, and proposing solutions.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create technical documentation and system diagrams.

  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills.

  • Ability to prioritize workload and tasks to effectively meet deadlines, and ability to lead, and own projects.

4.0 Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Cyber-Security, Networking, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field required, equivalent work experience in data center administration  and design may be substituted for education.

  • Minimum three years of experience in LAN and WAN technologies, network design, network management/data center management etc.

  • Minimum three years of progressively responsible experience performing Windows/Cisco system administration duties in a critical production environment.

 

5.0 Certifications
JNCIP-DC (Juniper Networks Certification Program), VCP6-DCV (Data Center Virtualization - VMWare), VCE Certified Converged Infrastructure Administration Engineer (VCE-CIAE), CCNA or CCNP Data Center 

 

6.0 Salary
To be determined based on the nature of the position being filled, education/certification, and work experience.
